Emberfall Chronicles

Emberfall Chronicles is the kind of RPG we hoped mobile could still deliver. You play a scout who stumbles into a political mess between three warring provinces, and the branching dialogue actually matters. Refuse to help a lord early on and whole quest lines vanish later.

Combat is turn-based with a positioning twist: where you stand on a small grid changes which abilities land. It's readable on a phone screen and never got fiddly for us. Party members have distinct personalities that come through in banter between fights.

The best part is that everything is stored locally. We played a full evening on a flight with no drop in features. Save files are generous, so you can pick up mid-quest without dread. It's a big download, but worth clearing the space.
